The City of Kelheim and BavariaHydro jointly presented the start of the “DONAU H2UB”. On a large industrial plot, former Süd-Chemie AG, Green Hydrogen will be produced and later imported from other countries, as Kelheim is located perfectly at the river Danube and Rhine-Main-Danube Canal connecting Rotterdam with the Black Sea.

BavariaHydro presented the first part of the project which will be the Green Hydrogen Production from Biogas, which is produced processing organic waste like e.g. manure and sewage sludge. In that way two birds are killed with one shot as this difficult waste becomes a useful feedstock for the H2-Production, being recycled at the same time.
